Landing Tutorial

I know that most of you nuggets know the basics of landing. When I rejoined the Falcon clan so did I. Soon, however, I realized that the procedure was nothing like landing a WWII Tomcat on a carrier, or an airliner in MS Flightsim. The Viper requires another type of approach. For this reason, I introduce you to this training video:

Landing Training Video

Give it some time as it needs to load. What you should get from this is the visual cues you should look for when landing. I have modified my landing procedures as I approach but the glide onto the tarmac is just as prescribed... smooth.

"I don't know how to put this... I'm kind of a big deal." - Ron Burgundy

They didn't make me Captain for nothing!

Kris, Jammer, and anyone else that needs some training let me know and we will try to get together to make it happen.

P.S. Credit where credit is due: Mike sent me the link to this video back in... I don't remember. It definitely helped out. So give it a shot.

Fly Any Aircraft

Go to each campaign folder and rename your validAC.bin file to anything else (ie: valid_AC.bin). Do this in all the campaign folders:

/Falcon/campaign/balkans
/Falcon/campaign/balkans2005
/Falcon/campaign/balkans2010
etc...

The interior will be the default F16 but the flight physics will be that of the aircraft being utilized. You can now fly as the red side as well.

Using ACMI Files For Training/Review

The goal of utilizing the ACMI utility within Falcon is to record specific events for review so that we may learn from them. The following is the manner in which I go about making a useful recording. First, determine exactly what the focus is. Before we begin, make sure that you go to the SETUP section of the game interface and change the ACMI file size to something like 50mb (I have it at 250mb).

For example, SAM avoidance troubles in a TE, campaign mission, etc.

1) Embark on your flight and hit the "F" key at your IP (Ingress Point). This will start the tape.
2) Proceed with the engagement. Until you exit the engagement area after accomplishing your mission, or you're dead because of a SAM that prodded your jet.
3) Go to the ACMI section of the game interface and select the last one that you see on the list. This should be the recording that corresponds to the last mission you flew. Rename the file something appropriate (ie: SAM prodded me).
4) Visit your Falcon folder on your HD, go to the ACMIBIN folder, and then to the theather of operation that you are using (ie: Balkans).
5) Find the ACMI file you renamed and send it through your preferred method of delivery.
6) This seems like a lot of work... and it kinda is but it is also the best way to learn from our mistakes.
